The Luolakallio data centre converts electricity into heat. The main challenge involved managing this heat in a green, cost-effective, and sustainable manner. The goal focused on optimising different cooling solutions using sensor data and analytics.
Sensors were installed in various locations to collect data. This sensor data was harmonised into NGSI data models and fed into an NGSI-V2 broker. The data was then stored in a historical database for analysis. Insights from the analytics informed better cooling decisions. This comprehensive solution achieved about 80% energy savings in cooling.
While direct citizen involvement was not part of this project, the energy savings achieved contribute to broader community benefits.
