PayiQ it's an app that helps cities control traffic emissions, avoid unnecessary driving, and encourage low-carbon mobility choices. The PayiQ app includes access to public transport and ticketing, automatically detecting transport modes, and calculating CO2 insights per leg traveled. The GreenImpact feature of the app offers a tool that encourages citizens to make lower-carbon emission choices through gamification and sustainable engagement. GreenImpact supports cities on their way to becoming CO2 neutral.
This solution was implemented as part of the existing white-label fare collection application Föli, initially developed by PayiQ, making it easy for current or new customers to adopt GreenImpact. The existing application was enhanced with new features, including a daily mobility summary, a CO2 emissions and savings tracker, rewards, and a marketplace.
At the heart of the solution is an engine seamlessly integrated into users' mobile devices. This engine leverages device sensors to recognise and measure various forms of movement and distances while ensuring efficient battery use through pre-processing the collected data. This innovative approach provides cities with a comprehensive understanding of users' commuting and travel behaviours, forming the foundation for engagement strategies.
An integral component of the PayiQ solution is the CO2 footprint calculator, which awards users with badges and climate coins based on their achievements in reducing their carbon footprint. Using the data collected by the mobile device's engine, the platform offers real-time assessments of individual environmental impacts, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Climate coins, as a rewarding instrument, can be redeemed for discounts on goods and services from local vendors registered in the application marketplace. Local businesses gain immediate exposure to a wide, active audience of app users, while commuters receive additional incentives to choose zero-carbon transportation.
GreenImpact engages multiple stakeholders in the app, facilitating the creation of a mobility-driven sustainable ecosystem represented by end-users, transport operators, cities, and local vendors.
